THERAPY FOR CHILDREN

I know how difficult it can be to see your child struggling with intense emotions and undesirable behavior.

Perhaps your child finds separating from you very hard.  Maybe there is a felt sense of sadness or anger and no words to explain why.  You notice your child feeling insecure and unable to "go with the flow".

You may be having a difficult time getting your child to open up to you.

CHALLENGES THAT CHILD THERAPY CAN ADDRESS

When Children experience:

  • Persistent feelings of sadness

  • Lack of interest in school and social activities

  • Constant anger and a tendency to overreact to situations

  • Persistent worry, anxiety, or fearfulness

  • Difficulty making and maintaining friendships

  • Inflexible thinking

WHAT IS THERAPY LIKE FOR CHILDREN?

In therapy, children learn by doing.  By using various types of experiential forms of therapy. (play, art and sand tray therapies), children can safely explore and express how they feel.  Through these therapies, children also learn how to befriend those challenging feelings, incorporate better coping strategies and become better problem solvers.

I take a genuine interest in your child as I try to understand their world. I create a safe and fun environment where kids feel comfortable sharing and understanding how they can tap into their strengths and rely on flexible thinking to approach problems. It is important to me that an emphasis be placed on the parent-child relationship.  I work closely with parents to promote further healing and connection.
